Mission

- Represents R&D at the Core Team meeting and brings relevant
information on content feasibility, cost, delivery date,
quality and progress status of the development deliverables
of the project he is in charge of.
- Ensure within Engineering organization the management,
coordination, follow up and/or field support of all R&D
activities related to a project.
- Responsible for the R&D development plan building with the help
of SW, HW & Validation release managers. He has to manage
the R&D activities with follow up of content, quality, planning,
shop cost, risks, approvals, budget cost, priorities.
Special care is taken to ensure inter-project coordination.
- The TMS (Technical Manager Specific mission) has the same
profile/background than the TM. He/she will pay special
attention to update & maintain the R&D medium term roadmap
for his/her product line, participate to budget consolidation,
ensures coordination with the other product line TMS,
actively propose & participate to the overall Project
Management Improvement activities.
- The TM/TMS report to the Product Development Director,
with a dotted line to the Customer Focus Director
when maintenance & support activities are linked to its project
(after DR4 review).

- Diligently plans, schedules and NEGOTIATES with the Competence
Manager resources (people and material) at the beginning of new projects
- Proactively foresees and intercepts problems before they escalate
by practicing "risk management"
- Develops contingency plans to deal with unexpected issues and/or problems
- Reacts with agility to unplanned events; triggers/tracks action plans
Reviewing & Evaluating
- Continuously assesses progress and financial status of projects
(actual and forecasts); predicts trends
- Evaluates the practical feasibility of a project and the impact of risks
- Evaluates risks and sets up processes for mitigation
- Conducts post-mortems to learn from past successes and past mistakes
Decisiveness & Accountability
- As R&D representative, makes sound decisions based on actual
situations versus targets
- Considers the impact of decisions on all project stakeholders
- Prioritizes own work, making choices between "urgent"
and "important"; accepts responsibility for the outcomes
- Looks at issues from all perspectives, consulting with team members
and manager before making major decisions
- Shows consistency between words and actions ("walks the talk")

Innovation and Change
- Manages change in an effective and efficient way, seeing it
an opportunity rather than a threat
- Maintains a stable performance under pressure and/or opposition
- Creates an environment that encourages innovation and risk-taking

Customer Focus (Solution Unit Core Team)
- Develops trust with customers by ensuring that promises are honored
- Keeps customers informed if project slippages occur
- Actively seeks feedback from customers on project satisfaction
- Uses feedback from customers to improve processes and practices

NEEDED DEGREE/TRAINING:
- Accounting degree or other relevant qualification
- Senior knowledge in R&D development
- Senior practice of Project Management techniques
- Good knowledge of field support practices
- Project management: Mature (PMI minimum)
- People Management: Mature
- Negotiation: Mature

COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:
- Excellent knowledge of audit issues
- Experience in the standards-setting process
